AFDSNY Announces 2017 Edward “Ned” Carter Scholarship Recipients

The Scholarship Committee of the Association of Fire Districts recently met at Saratoga Springs, New York to review one hundred fifty seven applications for the four scholarships given out annually in the memory of former President of the Association, Edward “Ned” Carter and all deceased past presidents of the State Association to high school seniors in the four geographic regions of New York State.
 
The Committee is chaired by Eugene Petricevich from Suffolk County. This award is meant to recognize the dedication to the fire service and community which was epitomized by Ned Carter and the recipients chosen this year have been chosen because of their dedication to their studies, their school and their community. All applications were thoroughly reviewed by the Committee and while there was difficulty in selecting only four winners, the results are as follows:

The four recipients to be honored this year are:

Rachel Wahler, East Region
Amanda Linger, Central Region
Calvin Zielinski, West Region
Nathan R. Hanley, North Region
